then what motivation does nvidia have to release (or even develop) another super high end card to replace the ultra at the top end?

this looks like its going to be bad news now for everyone, im really hoping ati can release a card that actually BEATS the ultra, not just comes close by the end of this year/early next year, so we can start to get nvidia off of their backsides and get those new cards shipped.

edit: also, is the 1gb 2900xt the last R600 card? will there be better/more refreshes at the top end?

also i just noticed my thread title may imply fanboy attitudes. id like to say right now i have no preference to ati or nvidia. i go for the best cards out, and they have been both ati and nv cards before.

oh yeah i know, i think probably 70% of pc's dont even have graphics cards tbh, mostly onboard solutions.

think of all the schools and offices etc etc. i cant even picture them running 9500's/5200's tbh.

but yes i suppose it is good that the die shrinks are slowly making their way in.

hello at work here (work...on saturday night...)

its interesting seeing the responses from you people.

although i can forsee in a few years ati releasing a top card, and we will be thinking the other way around about nvidia
