After years of constant battling with my inner conscience I have finally succumed to the charms of the box.

I was toying with the wii for a while but someone said it's for kids and middle aged people and despite being the latter I don't consider myself such and the graphics on fifa2008 look awful with those lego men they use.

So I will be getting the Core version without HD.

What will I need to go live with it? I have a wifi router will that be enough or will I have to buy some sort of usb wireless adaptor to connect it to the net?

Looking forward to playing online on my sofa. Will be a new experience for me.

Welcome to the middle aged (well I'm just 33, but feel it) sofa gaming club.

I'd seriously consider paying that little bit more for a pro (old name premium). As you want to connect to Live! you'll soon see something you want to download and you'll want a HD. It comes with a headset (Core doesn't) and a hi def cable. Also you'd need a HD if you ever wanted to stream (music etc) from your PC. (All 360 games have discrete music to sounds so you can play your own tunes).

If you do decide to go the Core route make sure to get the newer Arcade (new name for it). It's the same price but comes with a wireless controller over wired, a 256MB mem card (Core comes with none), HDMI out and 5 arcade games on a disc.

can't just use plain a usb adaptor?

I'm getting a 2nd hand one from my brother it's an old one so not the arcade but i'm only paying 1/2 the standard price so don't care really.

I have a pc for most of my other needs anyway.

I'll have a look into this wireless adaptor.

Pretty much any wireless bridge will work, the Xbox just thinks it's connected by an ethernet cable, it doesn't know or care that there's a wireless bridge there.

So I'm replying in your thread.

So I'm wondering why the 360's WiFi adaptor is so pricey.

So I didn't pay for one myself and instead bridged a connection from my PC.

So I'm gonna press the submit button now.

So bye.
