So I'm thinking of getting a Mac... (which one for Logic?)

I know they are. You used to be able to get 1080p 15" laptops but haven't seen any for a few years now.

The 13" MBP is 1280x800 btw.

You still can, but they have to be higher-end ones (I have a DELL latitude with one for example, and the pixels are slightly too dense imo).

I was referring to the air in my posts, but 1280*800 on 13" is quite a nice pixel density. I wouldn't buy a 13" mbp because of the graphics though personally (£1k on a full sized laptop without discreet graphics lol).

Scoring is not the purpose of Logic. I think that it's only really in there for legacy reasons and for people who occasionally might want to print out a sheet from a project.

I think you are right. I've downloaded the 30 day trial of Sibelius and used it back to back with Logic and am getting on with it much better, especially the step input. I'll give Finale a go too to see how it compared, but understand Sibelius is higher thought of (and I like that it is owned by Avid).

Thanks for your help Arty.

If anyone was interested, if I was to go for a Mac I'd have got the Mini. I might still do one day.

You're welcome. Sibelius has a learning curve which can 'get in the way' of recording your ideas as quickly as they come at first, which is something I found difficult to overcome. Logic, by comparison, is much easier to get instant results, but as soon as you want to really leverage its power it too has a considerable (some would say steeper!) learning curve. Both are great programs though :)

Never got on with Finale personally but it's still around so I'm sure it's pretty good.

I started out on Macs that way, back when they were much cheaper :) Sounds like you should stick with a PC and Sibelius for the moment, though, assuming it works for you.
