yesterday england match itv hd was in sd for me.. but the german match now is in hd. I thought it was my signal as i just got a new tv day before.. Seems ITV HD are pretty slack.. (this is with freeview HD) so i think the answer is definitely yes.. i have no problems at all with BBC HD.

The blame fell on the company that is contracted to supply the HD feed, hence why ITV had to switch to the SD feed for the rest of the match.

Thanks for the heads up. In a way I'm kinda of glad i didnt have to see the misery is full HD goodness

The problem in the England game when any HD viewers missed the goal was caused by human error at a company Technicolor where ITV is broadcast from. Someone with an itchy trigger finger pressed a single button on the computer that controls the output, doing so caused the next events in his/her playlist to start playing on air. Sadly that happens in live TV (it's what I do for a living).

What's annoying is that it took whoever it was that long to notice it and correct it when it would have simply been a case of leaning over the desk and pressing two buttons on a switcher to cut back to the football and lock the output to that source and bypassing the computer control which would have still been trundling through the break.

Would have loved to have been in that suite when it happened!
