So I've just built my FIRST gaming PC!

For perhaps the best modern sci-fi experience, you have to go with Mass Effect 1 + 2 :) I spent hours just reading the Codex on that for backstory, which was fantastic. Not to mention the two of these will set you back 30+ hours each easy.

Dont get too mnay games in one go otherwise you will end up not playing them properly.

Very good advice. Get Batman aa to tide you over til BF3, maybe fallout to keep you going. And dirt 3 for a change of pace. Once BF3 comes out it'll be all you need :)

You have enough good titles in your post to keep you busy for a while. That's many solid weeks of gameplay.

If you're into RPGs, the Mass Effect and the Witcher series are excellent.

Starcraft 2 is also a good bet as RTS. The single player campaign is polished and if you get into hooked into multiplayer and the competitive scene, it'll keep you going for years.

Get 1 game, play it, complete it, then buy another, if you get too many at once you will never play them all the way through, i know this from experience.

+1 This is so true. I have ended up removing all my steam deals and installs froms discs. I am then forced to play what I have or re-download or reinstall which helps a bit.

I would get 1 game to play to christmas then go crazy on the Steam christmas sale :)

Agreed, maybe even the Thanksgiving sales.
Normally in the Steam sales they have massive discounts on publisher catalogues from Eidos/Square, THQ, 2K, Valve, id/Bethesda etc, just put £200 aside and then when the sales hit let rip and bag yourself a hundred games or so at knockdown prices.

Then not even get through half of them by the time the next sale rolls around :D

Maybe not, I'm just secretly jealous of newcomers to PC gaming because they won't have any of the games from the big packs so can get full value out of them.

You can get Metro 2033 on sale for £3.74 right now, I would suggest that it has amazing graphics and its an amazing story, game and atmosphere.

Other games I would recommend :

Batman Arkham Asylum
Borderlands
Half Life 2
Just Cause 2
L4D
Mass Effect 1 & 2
Portal 1 & 2
Minecraft
The Witcher 2
