News hit this afternoon that its being rebranded to Ben’s Original with anew image to be announced.

Got to admit I never ever thought of it in the way I’m reading online of the happy black servant always being on hand to serve his white master. Just thought he was the owner/creator, turns out he’s a popular Chigaco chef/waiter.

Is a company choosing to rebrand genuinely something that we're all supposed to care about that much? It doesn't feel like it should be, especially right now...

it is when it’s the direct result of events happening right now.

The business has made a decision about a brand it owns, no one forced them to do it, but it's somehow the fault of some nebulous 'others'.

Why is it that there's never any threads in support of these things where one might actually come to an evidenced opinion on opposing it? It's literally always an outrage thread in here, always.

I'd take a moment to self-introspect, but that's more effort than being angry 24/7 (and importantly, much less dopamine excitation), at least be angry about something important... do we really need dozens of threads discussing American politics?

Ok you pompous goit, where’s the outrage? I was just posting a thread on some news I saw, not going to the shed to pick up my pitchfork and storm the local town hall and rob a few JVC TVs from Asda on the way.

Can someone explain to me why it was racist? Or offensive? Isn't it just a guy on a packet of rice? I mean I get he was paid little, but did the company even really exist when he was asked? And I assume he agreed, and wasn't forced (which would make sense). But I am confused.

because apparently it leans into the racist way that slave owners would call their elderly slaves “uncle” instead of Mr. This is according to what I read earlier.

next to go - the best stuff ... love it.

Frankly I'd, moreover think twice about buying any Dyson products, for his political brexit views.

apparently there was a colonel sanders on both sides, during the civil war, who hadn't made that connection ?, thought he was exclusively a confederate

Already gone.

"white" people shouldn't be allowed to eat rice at all because that's cultural appropriation.

I'm just getting ahead of the curve on "racism". Give it another few years and "progress" will catch up.

It could be a troll, but the below tweet is lifted from the Mars tweet in the OP. I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if there are people that think that.
