So many 1070s to choose from???...Where to start?

A lot of these bigger coolers such as the Inno3D I have gone for and the Zotac linked above don't even spin the fans up until the card hits a certain temp/load. You are also paying extra for the overclocks.

I'm very happy with my MSi Armor 1070 - it's basically silent even under heavy gaming loads which is particularly nice after my pretty loud old Windforce 7970 GHz!

If your card dies after 2/3 years, how would you feel about that? Not so good? Then go EVGA/Zotac for longer warranty & better CS (EVGA).

Zotac do indeed have a 5 years warranty and a UK based call centre. However they insist that you send the card back to Hong Kong for repair/ replacement.
Gibbo made a post to state that OC will accept warranty returns here but if repairs / replacement is needed then you'll have to wait for Zotac, or something like that.

I bought a Gigabyte 1070 and I do know that Gigabytes UK based warranty, having used it previously, is excellent with a typically quick response etc measured in days in my experience.

For me that was enough to tip the balance in favour of the Gigabyte.

The Zotac would not fit in my case without removing the top drive bay, which I use. Plus I have noted that unless you build scaffolding under them they tend to droop due to their humongous size and weight.

The Gigabyte Gaming that I got is good and quiet. I clocked it to test at 2100mhz on the core and it seemed fine and still within TDP. But I am running at stock.
That seems a bit of a lottery, in terms of overclocking. I am not sure if one card would make that any easier than another - perhaps the Zotac extreme has a higher TDP set in the BIOS to help in that way. But I have noted people flashing that bios on their other branded 1070's. Not for me though...!

Great feedback guys, just to be clear, this is my case below. I really don't want to have to gut me whole system yet, so need a card to fit into this. Me r9 just fits in as it is.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/bitfenix-ronin-tower-case-black-ca-129-bx.html

Then measure your R9 and match it against the 1070's you are considering.

The Zotac noted is around 325mm long - too long for me for the reasons mentioned and also I would not get any access to the SATA ports on the board.

The Gigabyte I have got is 285mm long when I checked it.

My 970 Zotac died, was picked up at no charge from the place it was bought from, forwarded by them to Zotac and refunded under instruction from Zotac, couple of weeks tops was the turnaround.

Got an Amp Extreme and although it's a tank and must be one of the longest varients, it doesn't sag-but not all cases/components are equal so not surprised if some indeed sag.

On the subject of what one to go for, they all do there or there abouts but some are starting to use Micron vrams(MSi/Palit) which are no where near as good as Samsung for oc'ing.

The Amp Extreme also has the largest power limit too, if bios modding lands, by the looks of it and others, it could stretch it's legs further as it's clearly neutered, mines is anyway.
