Hi all 
I have been looking at various laptops over the last few days but I think I am more confused than ever, the number of choices it a bit overwhelming even though I have a good idea what the laptop will be used for. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone has to offer or suggestions on a particular model, here are the requirements –
Must be new, I know second-hand is often a great option but this will be a gift so I prefer new.
Screen size 15” to 17”, 15” will be OK but bigger can be better.
Built-in wifi.
Built-in dvd would be nice but not absolutely essential.
Main uses for the laptop will be web access, Microsoft Office, MKV movies, perhaps some very light retro gaming and a bit of photograph cropping now and again.
Hardware - given the above I think the most strenuous demand will be the movies so will a dual core cpu and dedicated graphics be needed ?
Laptops seem to come with decent sized hard drives so I can’t see it being an issue, 4GB of memory to be on the safe side, I have access to copies of Windows 7.
The laptop will only be used around the house so portability isn’t really an issue.
The budget for this is about £700 if possible but can go further if necessary.
I don’t need to order today but certainly over the next week or two at the latest.
