I still dont see anyone saying which one is best? :p

looking for something good which is 23-26" and Im pretty flexible with the price since I paid over £700 for my existing Dell 24" about 5 years ago or something.

Ive seen some goodish reviews for the two expensive HP and Dell 24" available here at OcUK but are they really the best available in that price range at the mo?

Depends what you mean by best? If you tell us what you will be mainly using it for, and also what you consider the most important criteria e.g. must have outstanding colour accuracy, or, needs to have lowest possible response time, you'll get more useful info. Without any sort of guidelines other than price you will simply get a list of answers that may prove not particularly helpful as they will only reflect opinions of people who's criteria of "best" is wildly different to yours.

It could be said that an IPS panel would offer the best in terms of colour accuracy & viewing angles - as such it would be best if you are always working closely with images. Whereas it would probably be not the best choice if you will use it primarily for gaming - you would probably benefit more from 120Hz refresh rate.

Well its going to be a mix of gaming and watching video on. Not really fussed about viewing angles since I dont plan on staring at my monitor from odd angles :P

Nice refresh rates and low latencies would be nice etc. You mentioned 120hz but Ive only seen that Acer screen advertising that so is that the only one?

I would say the Dell U2410 is the best monitor around at the moment in terms of price/quality/performance.

Only issue is that obviously there is huge debate about the quality of the panels. I will give you word tonight on what state the OcUK panels are at, as I have one delivered to my home.

I have been searching for a while for a monitor @ 16:10 resolution with the right mix of connections / quality / colour depth and reproduction and found only the u2410 to fill those needs.

Personally based on what you'll be doing I would recommend looking towards 120Hz monitors - if only for the gaming. The only problem is, as you have suggested, that there is a limited choice at the moment - only three 120Hz models available in total, and only 1 - the Acer - which meets your size requirements, plus that is currently a pre-order item!

I would not like to be in the market for a monitor right now - I just that think there will be quite a few released this year which will be more desirable than the last. I guess that's the problem with buying new tech - there is always something better just around the corner.

If I were you, I would just wait a few months (if possible) just to see if there will be, as I expect, more 24"+ 120Hz monitors released/announced and then make a choice.

As with all monitor purchases though, if you can get to go and see it in person beforehand it will make your decisions a hell of a lot easier - seeing it with your own eyes rather than listening to people who may have completely different values to you is, by far, the best way to make an informed decision.

Yeah I read some good reviews about that NEC Multisync EA231WMi-BK but the slightly smaller size put me off which is probably silly ;P Is that 120mhz though? Dont remember seeing that on the specs

The only 24" (23.6") monitor that's 120hz and available to order is the Acer GD245HQ.
LG and Viewsonic are due to release their 120hz offerings in a couple of months time.
Might be worth holding on until theres a bit more competition/choice?
