That'd be a good upgrade. 280x is still a v decent card, my flatmate is running one as we speak!

Upgrading to z97 would also theoretically give you a bit of longevity as rumours are that the next intel update will still work on z97

Yeah, and if I were to get a 980 now I wouldn't be running 1440p for a few months anyway and would be using that insane card with these 60hz 1080p monitors. I think a CPU upgrade is definitely more suitable/smart right now rather than anything else

And in a few months time, the next card will be out so can buy that then! Or get a good deal on a 980
