Not sure if this is the right section, but its to do with Memory aswell..

as it stands i have 97 processes(up and down though) on the go , did have 100 untill i deleted a 2nd account(which was the original) with CPU usage of anything from 1%-10 as im not doing anything really other than typing here and and the Physical Memory is 46% as its stopped on 1.78gb untill i do anything else and tried to go through the list and bar couple i ended, they all seem to be of importance, but thats a hell of a lot of activity which i dont know how to sort out..

does anyone know what i can do?

edit: not that it would help with process count im sure, but i am going to replace a 2gb stick for a 4gb to give me 6 and see how much quicker that makes things(sig is what i use). could make it simpler and go for a pair of 4gb, but i probably dont need 8gb for my use to warrant the cost of that upgrade..

i was thinking about that actually, i looked it up the other day, but i dont know what would be the right things to get rid of?? i have an Acer..

Chrome uses a hell of a lot of memory, but i have no idea whats running behind the scenes as to whats making things run slow at times.. if i had discs, id do a fresh install, but i would have to purchase..

Well pretty much anything Acer related can be removed.

You can just grab a Windows 7 ISO and reuse the key, which should be on a sticker stuck to your laptop. Worked for me fine with my Acer laptop. Bare in mind activiating it during the installation didn't work, I had to activate it after it finished installing, going to start-> right click computer, properties -> activate windows.

ISOs here: http://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads-t12325.html

thanks for that, ive gone through that site and downloaded a programme i saw on it called win keyfinder v1.73 rc2 and after installing it automatically came up with the Key which im assuming is right..

as i would have to go the ISO route as everyone was pre-installed and i dont have any discs or anything what so ever, would i be able to use that key to test it on another drive before formatting my laptop?
