Been driving for about 5 years, and I've not had the best of luck with my first few cars. The Punto blew it's head gasket within 6 weeks... and I didn't even rag it about...

Then I bought a Corsa SXI+ which had engine issues...

Eventually I bought a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI titanium last year and to be honest, it's a lot of car compared to others. (I also thought if I'm investing in a newish car get the better spec one)

anyway,

The first service since I've bought it is now due, and I'll be getting a ford motorcraft + service next week. On top of this, would it be worth while to have the extra treatments such as engine flush, coolant/anti freeze flush and replacement etc?

Car hitting 70k

Also if anyone can help me, doing about 70mph on cruise and the trip says I average around 46mpg... maybe peaking at 49mpg at 70, sure where I live is very windy at times but does this seem low?

You don't say how old it is, but regardless, you don't have to go to Ford for a service.

I assume Motorcraft + is a fixed price service cost, but honestly just get a quote from a reputable local garage to at least compare prices.

You don't need an engine flush (unless they are advising it for a specific reason), same with coolant replacement (unless it is due to be replaced).

46-49mpg sounds about ok for 70mph.

Ah sorry.

It's an 11 plate, and the only reason I'm getting the Motorcraft + service is because I get it at cost with genuine parts. Other wise I'd have gone elsewhere.

I assume it's the Motorcraft 4+ servicing in the link below, in which case personally I don't think they are priced too badly anyway (Minor-£125, Major-£195), given that they "free" roadside assistance as well.

If you are getting the same service at cost price, then see no reason not to, but you shouldn't need any "extras" unless they have a specific reason to recommend them.

Yeah thankfully I'm only paying £120 for the Major which I cannot complain about. I just thought I'd ask if it's worth getting things like the engine flushed, I'm a very paranoid driver these days given the previous cars, never about 95, high revs (3.2k in this sound horrid anyway) and any noise I always fear the worst :(
