I have a 3 year old Macbook, its been used every day and is finally given up. Its cracked in a few places but this doesn't really bother me. The main issue is with the fan. Its making a very loud noise and not cooling properly. This means the Mac eventually turns its self off.

Can anyone tell me options?

Will the people in the Mac shop be able to repair it? Will it cost a lot? Anything I can do myself?

Thanks

i am assuming it is now finally out of warranty and so it would be worth opening it up and having a look at the internals. You can then consider re-seating the fan/cleaning it with compressed air.

If you take it to apple your asking how long a piece of string is really with regards to what they find wrong. It will never be cheap if you are out of warranty.

If you do have warranty left still, run it down to the local place and get them to sort it, and disregard everything I have said above.
