Just dumped Sky myself after being migrated over to them from O2. Sky have been utterly useless in this time. No warning they were switching me over, 4 very different answers to a simple question about using my 3rd party modem (which coincidentally seemed to have died during the switch over and I've had to buy a new one) and router. Their online/email "support" is the worst I've experienced as they don't appear to bother reading your question and just reply with some generic crap about restarting the sky hub. Their phone support hasn't been too bad though.
In fact today I received a Sky Recovery Disk....not sure why but if I had to guess I'd say they didn't bother reading my complaint email properly (again).
Either way, have gone with Plusnet's ADSL2+ service until my local cab has been upgraded to FTTC (exchange is already FTTC enabled). £2.50 a month plus line rental, free weekend landline calls, full UK based support, the option of a static IP address for a one off fee of £5 and free upgrade to fibre when available even if I'm mid contract. Plus they openly allow you to use 3rd party devices. Annoyingly I have to wait till the 10th March for the service to be activated.
