So, official i7 benchmarks are ouy

It will be a very good buy and the worst one for your wallet you will ever make - no point in getting them for those prices, Deneb will be very close.

Hi there

The Asus Rampage II Extreme is not available and won't be in stock from anywhere for quite some time as Asus have not even shipped out sample boards yet, thats a pre-order only item.

I picked up a Asus P6T Deluxe this morning from a local supplier, I'll donate it to my kid brother then the Rampage finally arrives.

Verrrrrrrrrrry poor comparisons, you'll note. They're not comparing them with the same amount of RAM or the same boards, so it's ultimately guesswork to figure out what's what.

Note the first graph.

i7 920 with 3GB DDR3 RAM on an X58 board
Q9550 with 4GB DDR2 RAM on a P45 board
Q6600 with 2GB DDR2 RAM on a X48 board.

Not a level playing field in the slightest.

wouldnt mind seeing a review with i7 920 + 3gb ddr3 + x58 vs q9550 + 3gb ddr3 + p45 and do x264 encoding comparing them with latest x264 build (1028) which is optimised for nehalm.

And then they need to do a performance per pound/dollar comparison, to see if i7 is even worth it :P
