Thats just for the entry level i7. Methinks it was a good idea to hold off buying a system and getting one of these. What do you guys think? Will a i7 920 be a good buy for a gaming system?

The Asus Rampage II Extreme is not available and won't be in stock from anywhere for quite some time as Asus have not even shipped out sample boards yet, thats a pre-order only item.

Verrrrrrrrrrry poor comparisons, you'll note. They're not comparing them with the same amount of RAM or the same boards, so it's ultimately guesswork to figure out what's what.

Q9550 with 4GB DDR2 RAM on a P45 board
Q6600 with 2GB DDR2 RAM on a X48 board.

Not a level playing field in the slightest.

And then they need to do a performance per pound/dollar comparison, to see if i7 is even worth it
