So, PlayStation+, who's in?

The speed at which updates are applied on the PS3 compared to the 360 are poles apart. PS3 seems very slow when applying patches or having to wait for it to install a game you've just downloaded when compared to the 360.

Although comparing Lips with KZ2 is rather, amusing. :D

Heh.. you guys thought I was joking?

Lips is a great pick up and play game.

I use my PS3 a lot, but I see nothing for me in this new service – yet…

The only thing that remotely interests me, although I have no idea if/when it is coming, is the ability to have a private chat room like you can on the 360; one that doesn’t cut out when you’re all loading games.

As for automatic downloads – I rarely download anything from PSN, unless it’s a demo I’m really interested in, videos are often already watched online from Youtube or Gametrailers, and game updates happen when I play them, so none of this benefits me imo.

The free content looks dire at the moment, I already own Wipeout HD (it sucks) and have no desire to play LBP, regardless of how great or groundbreaking it may be; I’m no longer 12. And the other stuff that [free] PSN says I’ll get is easily forgotten, so I guess I don’t want/need them then…

All in all, I think it’s a very half-hearted offering at the moment, and as my Live subscription has run out, I’d rather hold on to my pennies for that if/when I play the 360 online again :p

Just because some people don't like the games that are being offered for free doesn't make the service a pile of **** in comparison to Xbox Live. You are actually getting more for your money with PSN+ and as someone else mentioned in this thread when I was signed up to Xbox Live Gold for 3 years I got absolutely **** all off Microsoft apart from that Doritos "game" and that crappy XBLA game for being without Live due to short sightedness on Microsoft's part, not anticipating how many consoles they'd sell over the holiday period.

For me the only thing Xbox Live is worth paying for is the Party Chat, the so called community makes me laugh when people mention that. There are far more kids on Xbox Live from my personal experiences with the likes of COD and Halo than there are on the PS3, the only differences in the community that I really found between the two online networks were that Xbox Live was pretty much full of tweens screaming down the mic and the PSN wasn't. Launch Modern Warfare 2 on PS3 and 360 and you'll notice no difference in how long it takes to find a game, the same is true with most multiplayer online games too. The only reason I'd shell out £40 for Xbox Live is for Party Chat, if PSN+ gives me Party Chat (which they've talked about doing recently as part of the PSN+ service) as well as free content in the form of full free PS3 games, free minis, free PSone games, free avatars, free premium dynamic themes and also discounts on content that is already on the store then PSN+ actually offers better value for money than Xbox Live.

Just for reference, Everybody's Golf doesn't seem to be compatible with the automatic updates function.
All the other games I've tried have been fine though (well, I can only vouch for the ones that were due an update!).

<sigh>

I really hope this isn't the case, it's real pain in the ass updating Everybody's Golf, have you tried loading the game and then trying the update system again?, I think it works by checking your last ten or so played games rather than updating everything that is on your system.

Does Everybody's Golf use is own ingame updater or the standard one?

I did that, twice, but ended up updating it manually (the most recent update was actually alright in terms of size).
I think the problem lies in that the game only requires an update if you go to play it online, it doesn't prompt you at loading.
Might be worth reporting on the PS forum, it can't be *that* difficult for them to sort out.

Does anyone know how to fix the issue with downloading demos? just turned my PS3 on to find its downloaded about 10Gbs of demos.

Dunno. Mine downloaded a few updates for some of my games, it downloaded the Heavy Rain demo and Modnation Racers demo and that was it. E-Mail Sony?

I've only had it DL the Heavy Rain Demo and the Modnation racers demo, I don't mind it grabbing the MDN demo, but I've bought and completed HR, so that was a bit redundant. It's all just teething troubles, I wouldn't worry too much, although Christ knows how you ended up with 10GB of downloads?!
What else did it grab? Those demos aren't anywhere near 10GB between them!

It downloaded them two, and just previous demos I have downloaded (UFC 2010, The Darkness, The Force Unleashed etc).

Deleted them now and set it up to re download at 12pm today, so will let you know if it re-downloads them again.

Ah well I didn't get any of those other three, which I have downloaded previously, so at least it knew I'd had some of them.
