So PS3 games multi-region?

hi all, i was wondering whether US games will work on a UK PS3 system - no mods or anything just out of the box compatability.

i want nhl2k8 which is out ina few days stateside, but not out here till october! any help appreciated!

Stranglehold was to be the first game that was region specific, mainly due to the inclusion of Hard Boiled on Blu-ray disc. After much customer outcry, the publishers relented and the region-free stance continues.

It would have set an unwelcome precedent too, so it's a good thing the publishers decided against the move.
