So I sold a HD to a forum member way back at the beginning of December. I sent it by first class recorded delivery on the 9th December from York to Kent and it's still not arrived.

The Sale was £35 which is what I've had to refund the buyer and what Royal mail has robbed from me.

I've checked their site and it seems I'm entitled upto the price of 100xfirst class stamps if I can prove the value of the package.
How can anyone possible prove what they have sent? It's not like they can recover the contents of the package to double check. For all they know I could have had 1Kg of Coke in there and I wouldn't be able to prove it. :(

Has anyone has any experience with this sort of bull from RM?

The tracking number is AH216092549GB.

They want proof of the value of the contents though.

Just download a pricelist of the item from a website like OCuk, thats what I did and they paid up the price of a new item and the postage.

I sold loads of stuff by royal mail and anytime it went missing they paid up no problem.

read through there help sections.
But just give anything, I doubt you'll get any problems. email, bank statement, url for the MM. evidence of cost of brand new drive, they you are claiming less than that due to second hand, probably the easiest, find it on a shop and give them the link and brand new price.

“actual loss” Where an item is lost then it is the amount it cost the customer to acquire, purchase or manufacture the item subject to adjustment to take account of condition, age and depreciation.

Right, this is what I'm going to do then. I'll send off the form monday morning (not that they are collecting mail in monday) and wait for a response. It should have only taken 2 days to deliver. There was no snow back then either. :(

Thanks. I could print off the OCUK price and they email between me and the buyer and the price he paid for it, plus a print screen of my bank statement to show he paid for it?
