So Should I get another 8800 GTX

My Dell Monitor arrived today a 30 inch beast and after playing some games in Vista I realisie that the performance driving this whopping res is perhaps not as good as it could be.

I have an OCUK 8800 GTX and am wondering whether to get another and run them in SLA (I can get it on the company so It won't cost me money personally).

I know that drivers should improve the performance a little but probably not hugely I figure.

My PSU though has 2 dedicated 8800 gtx type connectors but the OCUK card is hogging both of them, I guess I would need to use the adapters that come with the card and convert them to standard type plugs and just plug them in to normal ones.

Some Queries

1 - Do you think my PSU (shown in sig can handle an additional card)
2 - Can I get splitters for the existing graphics card connectors (rather than use conveters)
3 - Am I missing anythign obvious?

Thanks

Stuart

Don't know if this has been resolved, but I've read on some issues with the Enermax Galaxy and SLi certification.

An overclocked quad core and GTX SLi is getting close to 49A @ 12v (3.6GHz/1.5v). Thats pushing it with the Corsair 620w, its very close. May even rule it out, as good as it is, try it!

There are some reasonably priced SLi certified Tagans to consider, amongst others. The one below supplies 72A @ 12v

You need a new psu.

something like Enermax Galaxy 850W EGA850EWL ATX2.2 Modular PSU

Its SLI not SLA too ;)

No he doesn't, corsair demonstrated a quad core, 8800gtx sli and raid working perfectly fine on the hx620.

I hope you don't intend to switch to Vista while you're at it. There's no SLi support in Nvidia's current Vista drivers yet.

True but vista needs a month or two in the wild before it becomes usable (drivers)

As I said in my original post I am on Vista -I am hoping Nvidias going to release SLI compliant drivers when Vista officially launches :-)

I think I will try the Corsair PSU I have then - just have to rejig the cables and get some adapaters!

IMO, wait till nvidia do sli drivers for vista, then get the second one. :)
