Thank you for the 1280x1024 pictures, that is a massively impressive bit of kit, might have to get my wallet out as my mitsubishi 19" monitor is very much on its last legs now

Whoever she is shes hot (how sad I reply just to say that lol).
Damn that screen looks soo nice, want to ditch my 2005fpw for the 2007fpw, worth it?

The 2007WFP really is a nice panel - I had a couple of issues with my 2005 widescreen and in the end Dell sent me a 2007WFP as a replacement and I've been 100% happy ever since.
What issues did you have with your monitor that warranted a replacement? Think I might hold out for a 22" dell with same resolution sell this and buy that.

I had the backlight bleed issue.
All LCD's have a certain amount of backlight bleeding - if they didn't they wouldn't actually be able to function.
To see the bleeding, get a black or very dark screen and look around the edges.
What you should see is a small gey/white "haze" around the very edge of the screen.
On my old NEC 1760NX it was about half a centimetre all the way around.
With the 2005 I noticed that down one side the "haze" was extending a lot further than that.
It was only really a bother when watching very dark DVD's (which I didn't do often on the panel - got a good TV for that).
However I decided to get the panel replaced as I'd heard of others with a similar issue.
The replacement was better down the right side, but a lot worse from the top of the screen.
Called Dell again - they were great on the phone and explained.
Next day a 2007 turned up unannounced (they had indicated they were going to send me another 2005).
I even contacted Dell after I'd done the swap and they confirmed that the 2007 was an intentional shipment.

I've been 100% happy with my 2007 panel since then.
There was a known issue with "banding" on A01 revision 2007 panels, but this was fixed with the A02 revision.

One final question (honest), do you get the problems of colour banding when using DVI mode mentioned in thsis very long thread on dell's support forums?

I will have pics tonight but in brief, no banding issues on mine :)

As for the backlight, I wouldn't say it was backlight bleeding but more S-IPS "twinkling" effect you see when watching dark movies, the twinkle is noticeable on certain angles only though and the lower view you position yourself the more it goes away, it's not a distraction though and certainly not something to worry about, just a slight observation I saw when watching movies etc.

I just came back form my lunch, went into (an office supply store) and had a look at the 21" Gateway which I was "this" sclose to buying, I went to the store 1 week ago, ready to buy but it was out of stock! I am so glad I didn't buy it now, the gateway is no way near as good in terms of built quality and the gateway stand felt very poor by comparison.

The size was nice though, 21 inches! but the stand once agian let it down, the screen wobbles! also when you rotate the Gateway it's notperfectly sraight, it's slightly wonky!

:D

Also, if anyone is really confused about response times (I know Baddass explained various times too :)) on the S-IPS 2007WFP then this will clear things up nicely.

Here's the LPL specsheet in PDF format - http://www.lgphilips-lcd.com/homeContain/j...Philips_LCD.PDF (33MB)

And here's a screenshot of the section in question

I had to do this as someone on FM boards thought I was lying when I said it was 8ms because their "friend" who works for apple told him it wasn't

So its 8ms response time and not the 16ms as stated on the ocuk web site.

As long as i get a new one :p

Nice to know, i thinking of getting one of these :D

Aye - I think I mentioned the response rate issue in my first post in this thread.
The 16ms is to cover Dell's backside as the first 2007WFP's released were using the older panel which indeed has a 16ms response rate.
The newer revisions are using the 8ms panel.
However as they all come under the "2007WFP" product name it is a lot safer (especially when you are selling a product in the US) to put the worst case situation in your advert.
You put 8ms and some muppet manages to find an online store that sells him an old 16ms panel from old stock and suddenly you've got a million dollar "mental stress" lawsuit going on.

Buy from Dell Direct if you want a new one guaranteed :D

Also, looks like they are now making them on order! no wonder the track status page said "in production" for 2 days!

Checking the dell boards reveals others also had theirs made to order!

Thought I'd check the date on mine too

Anyone else confirm what I read on Widescreen gaming forums that Dell have changed over from a S-IPS panel (which I wanted) - to a PVA one ? (which I don't want)

Mark.

to carry on from what has been said above. The 2007WFP uses a 16ms LG.Philips S-IPS panel but that response time rating is based on the traditional ISO black > white response time figure. LG.Philips list the panel used however as having an 8ms G2G response time thanks to the use of their ODC (Overdriving Circuitry). This is how they updated the panel since the previous version (without ODC) used in the 2005FPW. For some reason Dell didn't adopt the G2G response time in their spec, but the screen does show responsiveness improvements over the 2005FPW panel.

Regarding the use of S-PVA panels, I've only really seen one main report of the 2007WFP coming with the Samsung panel instead of an LG.Philips S-IPS panel. It might have been a one-off perhaps, it's certainly not widely common yet.
