So the Jaspers are out

I'm fed up of the 360 now.

"Find out in a few months if this batch is problem-free"
"Check out the packaging on the box before buying"

By the time you get around the buying the damn thing you'll either have waited so long it's obsolete, or you look like a nut job.

That said.. if this does prove to be "the batch" I'll buy another. I just don't fancy being a beta tester :(

I found its best just to not care. You're covered and the turn around is fast.

I bought my 1st one (on second now) from an actual high street video store so I was able to take it back and get a full refund at the time. However I bought my new one from an online shop.

Is sending it to be fixed/replaced hassle free with MS? Do you have to send back everything in the box (controller, cables HARD DRIVE?) or do you just send back the bare xbox 360?

Getting even remotely that worked up about it is just daft. I'm just glad it's only geeks that even get to that level of anal detail.

Well I got fed up of waiting and went out and bought a 60GB with the GOW bundle yesterday.

It was manufactured in September 08 and has a 175W PSU so its a Falcon.

The guy in the shop I got it from said they will be selling the "ones with the new chipset" sometime in January, from that I take it he meant Jaspers.

I wanted one so I could use it over the Xmas holidays when I'm off work so I took the plunge and I'm glad I did.

Had a blast of GOW yesterday and loved it :D

Sorry for going off topic, but..
Did anyone have trouble tracking their Xbox when it was being returned from the repair centre?

Apparently mine was sent back on Friday and I still can't get any tracking details on it on the UPS site. Hope it comes soon, and ideally they replaced it!

It's free if it's still in warranty and you just send the 360, no cables or hard drive.

I love the way people have become jasper obsessed now. Any deals websites I look at people are always asking if it's a jasper.

"Xbox 360, 2 wireless controllers 8 games 60 gb HDD and a free jam doughnut 74p"

"Ah but is it a jasper?"

I hardly know anyone that's had a dead Falcon.

Yep, its like deja-vu all over again when the Falcon's arrived. At that stage I had yet to see my launch day 360 RRoD. My Falcon Arcade sod is still going strong as my main machine, and my launch day is now sitting downstairs as a media machine.

Jasper makes sod all difference - it may output less heat due to the die shrinkage, but it'll still most likely have a noisy sodding dvd drive, not that I've had any noise issues with my two machines.
