So I got home after a long day of work and thought I would watch some TOS star trek online.. as you do..

And it seems one of the sites that I use Primewire otherwise known as 1Channel some of you might recognise name as its old domain... is now blocked..

That is ridiculous, its not even a torrent website.

So I cant even log on and watch OLD streamed content on a smooth running website anymore.

Does BT even do any research when blocking websites these days.

:mad::mad::mad::mad: I hope BT die as a company seriously they provide me a crap internet service now there willy nilly blocking sites it seems.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Primewire is no different to sites like vulu and other legal sites in the US for example, where TV shows or old movies are listed and have links to embed videos which are hosted.

I would definitely Poo on there Ceos because of this >_>.

Im angry at BT about there ****** service and bending over for the government just adds to that.

The site itself does not even host illegal content, and the worst thing is I can proxy it or VPN right through it.

They achieve nothing this is like going and kicking the kid on the corner who alerts the drug dealers.. you gain nothing busting that guy.

I never download anything or pirate games, the only thing I ever do is maybe stream old movies and tv shows that I cant watch as they do not air anymore using this place to find them.

Its not even a torrent site GRRR.

GOSH.

My spelling is atrocious! I am so mad.

People don't realise tiny little approaches upon our freedoms like this will eventually lead to them having a full blown beach head.
This site was not even hosting illegal content, they've just decided to aggressively block any search engine for streaming websites now, its one step of many in there aid to bring down the big loud elephant in the room which makes noise when it wants and not when the government wants it to >_>.

Soon we will be paying to post each comment on bloody Facebook which we have to pay by the hour to use while also being monitored for what we say....yeah maybe not that soon and yeah maybe im being wayyyy over dramatic but in the end if they keep encroaching on public territory where we can speak and do what we want freely then eventually we will not even be able to do that.

Because the company who owns the residence im renting let BT wire there building to the cab outside.

We cannot get anything other then BT in the heart of a city where every road around us seems to have fibre because there connected to the ipswich exchange.

Yet our lone building is connected to an exchange 4 miles away.

Amazing planning.

Im using a Proxy now and it works, and if necessary I will use a vpn - but still that just lets the issue slide.

If I let it slide its like living with a false sense of happiness which is frustrating. They will keep coming at us like this taking little jabs at us until there's nothing left for us to browse!!!

Its not a torrent website........ Its not a site you download anything...

THATS the point, why should I download If I can stream.

All of the content I watch is legally streamed..

err.. no

every streamed movie is stored as a complete movie file in a temp folder on your hard drive.

A stream is exactly the same as a download apart from it plays as soon as it can instead of waiting until it's 100% downloaded.

Regardless its not a site where you go to watch the latest CAMJOB of mavity.

Nearly all its content is old or currently aired tv shows.

Its not hosting anything at all.

Why defend them? you will only realise to late when they come and destroy something that you enjoy when its to late.

why don't they block youtube.

goto youtube
type "full movie" some of them are from the last few years....

there are tons of series episodes on there as well

examples

hope I don't get banned for linking to youtube!

I KNOW RIGHT??!?!?!?!?

Gosh BAN YOUTUBE aswell... BT.... half the content on there is not yet moderated and contains copyrighted material.

They wont ban them want to know why? because that will fracture there fragile rock and half there customers will come running to them with complaints.

Instead of doing it that way there going to do it the silent snakey way site by site untill there is nothing left.

yup it's a joke most of the films and series on youtube have been on there for months if not years.

but oh wait it's youtube and they would probably take anyone who blocked them to court

The masses of this country choose to wilfully live in ignorance of there freedoms being stripped away from them atom by atom.

Its done in a way we don't notice, akin to a large mammal being eaten by piranhas bit by bit until its to late for us to do anything about it.

This is not soley in relation to my favourite site being blocked but issues across the board with our country and others.

They did not want to impose restrictions but the courts compelled them to.

Just doing 5 minutes of research it's pretty clear this is not a legal site, one which is backed and supported by the movie/television industry and pays the necessary royalties etc. Just because it happens to have content on it you can stream doesn't make it legal. You don't have a "freedom" or "right" to illegal content.

The site hosts no content, its as much as a "Illegal" site for copyrighted material as youtube is for having entire movies and episodes of copyrighted movies hosted on it.

Or google for acting as a search engine for pedo porn.

I don't understand how it hosts no content. Where does the content you are streaming come from then? You stated earlier that the content was fully legal too which I could find no proof of when researching the site.

The argument of torrent sites being no different to Google (they both index content and don't actually host it) has been done to death but no good arguing with me, I don't (or anyone here for that matter) write the laws.

It does not host the content, each series or movie that may be listed has a set of links to host sites such as Putlocker or Sockashare etc which is where anything will be embed for you to watch.

Also I never said every single bit of content is legal, members can also post content on the website which should be moderated to some degree.

Either way the content is not hosted directly on the website and is no more shady than the way youtube copyright works but is ignored.

Google buys the rights/pays it's dues to hosts films etc

I am not talking about content hosted which people can pay to watch, im talking about entire movies being up there for years which get by due to low view count and not breaking the copyright filter.

There plenty of it on there, technically untill it is completely clean of that sort of content it should be blocked too no? by the logic that is used to shut down sites like primewire.

As with Youtube all Primewire content that is on there which links to host sites to be watched is put on there by users.

Look at it like this..

You want a gun. You ask "Shady Dave" where to buy a gun and he points you to go down the road , tells you to knock on the back door of the Dog&Bone boozer and tell whoever answers the door that Dave sent you. This is illegal. Dave is breaking the law.

You want a gun. You hear on the grapevine that someone in the Dog&Gun boozer is selling one. You don't know where that boozer is so you buy a map from your local garage. Both the printers of the map and the garage you bought it from aren't breaking the law.

Very nice analogy I must say.

I never watch CamJobs - there **** neither do I watch cam jobs of current movies.

I am a believer of going to the cinema and watching something how its supposed to be watched.

The only things I ever watch online are TV episodes etc Stargate and things like that.
