Got some old cheap parts in my local store today.

Black ICute Case
4chan PCI sound card
OEM 250gb SATA HD
580w Xpower GTXlight PSU 82E
8100VM-M5 GeForce MotherBoard
Athlon X2 Dual Core 7450
2GB DDR2 800mhz
Heat Sink+ Fan

I have a Samsung Syncmaster P2270 LCD that i was using my laptop off.

So i put it all together carefully.

I press the power button its turns on and i see nothing. The LCD knows that its plugged into the PC because it searches between Analog and Digital looking for a signal.

I expected that I would see the POST routine but my heart sank into my stomach when nothing appeared :(

Anybody able to provide some ideas? I heard no sound either. Like beeps etc. (dnt know if pc's still beep during POST)

Also could it be that this LCD doesn't display post routines and only comes alive when i boot into windows? -.- I dnt have another screen so I hope thats not the case also.

Many Thanks,
-W

Just connect the psu/mobo/cpu/1 stick or ram and the monitor and keyboard connected.
Did you make sure to use the motherboard standoff's and use them in the correct position?
Make sure the 4pin cpu power connector is connected top right of the motherboard.

See if something happens then.

DDOHHH DOOHHH DOOHHH I hope i am an Idiot..

ok..

You mention

'4pin cpu power connector is connected top right of the motherboard.'

Should i get one of the power cables coming out of the PSU and plug it into a connector labled as ATX12V (manual says 'Connect the auxiliary case power supply connector to ATX12V').

Whats that mean exactly?

So you didnt have that pluged in? if not, that will be the problem.

Just connect the 4pin power connector from the psu to that port and you should be good to go.

Did that and there was an improvement in that i didnt need to Press the power button 3 times to get the system to start.

Now it starts on the first push like a normal pc should.

But still getting no output to the LCD. That is going directly off the MOBO's vga connection.

Going to reconnect the Graphics card and go from its none-vga connection and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the support Kenny!

Still no output to the screen when i added in graphics card.

Also no lights light up on my USB keyboard when i power on the machine.

 Are we at a deadend?

I hope to god its not a bad part somewhere in the mix.

Try just using the minimum amount of parts, disconnect the hard drive / dvd etc
Also could try re-setting the cmos usually a jumper next to the battery.

I reset the cmos and no visible change.

no one seems to have stated to obvious to you yet. have you tried going into bios and disabling onboard vga if ur graphics card is connected to the monitor but the bios is set to onboard vga you won't see anything.

do you know how to use bios?

Check your RAM and check your master/slave settings on your IDE drives.

I made that mistake not so long back, forgot to check an IDE HD and had the same problem. Turned out that the slave/master jumper was missing.

I dnt even see the POST so i wont be able to see the BIOS. Screen is Blank. Sorry if I've not been clear on this.

Using an SATA HDD. I've them both unplugged atm, Problem is i am not seeing the POST, getting no video output what so ever from the machine. Doesnt show post/bios anything at all :(

Going to reseat the ram into the 2nd slot. Can ram stop the POST? Going to completely stip the system, even remove the CPU and re-assemble and see if that fixes anything.. been a long 24hours but time to start again i think ;)

Thanks for all the help <3

Does your case come with a speaker... depending on the nature of the problem the PC should send a number of beeps to the speaker to indicate the nature of the problem, but you need a speaker attached to the motherboard headers to hear it.

As your board has a build in VGA, I would suggest leaving out the graphics card completely until you get a successfull POST, as depending on the motherboard you may need to get into bios to disable the onboard VGA to enable the slot in card to become the primary VGA (Which is used for POST). Secondary graphics card will normally only start up after windows is booted.

If there is a fault with the graphics or ram, it can prevent the system from getting to the point where POST can access the screen, in which case beeps are the only way of reporting errors. If there is a CPU fault, it wont even beep.

if the case didn't come with a speaker give me a shout i have a couple of spares i could let you have if you can't fix the problem without the beeps.
you can have it for free
just out of curiosity u have got the vga cable plugged into the motherboard and not the graphics card haven't you.

if u have i usually find no post in my system is usually the ram
i:E when i've added stick of ram or moved the positioning
I'd give it a quick strip down check all the stand offs are in place, make sure there isn't a screw stuck behind the mother board. Any chance you could throw up a pic of inside the case. not saying your a noob but there could be something u've overlooked that another person might spot.

As the bloke above suggested.

The memory may be dead/incompatable. I purchased a cheap AMD board from a high street store that is very similar to yours. It was incredibly picky with the memory I used, it rejected my OCZ Platinum and so I needed to shell out on some Kingston Hyper X, which to my relief managed to work.

; With the OCZ the system would not post. I would get power, but the screen would remain black (same as your issue). I'd really really recommend finding some spare memory, from a friend or from a shop etc and trying it. Alternatively take your motherboard/cpu down to a computer shop and ask them to try some memory inside it (they might even do this for free if you buy it off them afterwards).

I realise this is a complete pain in the ass for you, trust me, I know how you feel. Try the memory, I'm almost completely sure its the problem.....out of interest, which memory are you trying to use? Were you completely sure of compatability with your motherboard before purchase or was it like adding 2 and 2 together?

Hope all goes well!
