It doesn't sound like he killed or raped anyone though (at least according to the article), so probably (c) is more likely.

He'll probably say he's very very sorry and it wont happen again, before being given no more then a year inside. If they can't prove that he's responsible for every burglary, he can't be charged for it. He could end up being charge for just a handful.
