So what components really help a Laptop?

Hello all, i'm considering buying a Laptop and of course they're very customisable nowadays, so I was just wondering, is a .10 ghz difference really that important in a Laptop CPU? is 2 more gig of RAM really useful in a Laptop, is the bigger battery worth the extra life? etc, just general pointers to give out, as the price differences are huge, for example, an Inspiron, really well specced, is a lot cheaper than from other sites with the same specs, and i'm like "Why?" the OcUK Custom built Laptops look good too, whats the general opinion on them? I know it's the OcUK site so I dont expect you to be overly critical, but is the build quality, design etc nice? I want it to be powerful enough to get by on most games at the very least, so it's gotta be a fairly modern Laptop, is there any new Architechture or Chips coming out worth waiting for? Many Thanks for the help :)

If you want to know more about the ocuk laptops i'm told they are
Clevo M860TU 's

so lookup reviews of clevo's laptop barebone systems and you'll get a good sense of build quality etc. They seem to be pretty well regarded so thats why i'm getting one! (eventually if they are ever in stock).

As far as cpu's go, the p9500 has 6MB of L2 cache compared to the 3MB of p8600 so its not just .13 Ghz.

Memory if you're using vista, i'm told 2GB isn't really enough and there is a benefit of getting the full 4GB (even if 32bit cannot address all of it).

As for architechture, centrino2 is brand new, 9xxx geforce series is brand new so its the best time to buy right now.

I'd recommend forking out the extra for the 7200RPM HDD, not only is it larger than the default one, but it'd also perform much better (faster program/game/vista loading, less texture hitching whilst loading and vista should be nippier). This is because the higher RPM not only increases read speeds, but also seek speeds. HDDs and GPUs tend to be the weakest parts of any laptop.
