Well, work and college/ school. I personally think that it helps me work. It gives me that time to have a tiny break from work, keeps my mind stimulated. But the college network blocks the twitter site. Therefore it blocks any apps. But I always have my iphone to do the tweeting with. But I know of a few people who work where twitter isn't blocked but it frowned upon when using it. Such as people have had problems because they have been caught on the site. So what do you think to this?

I think it's brilliant, defiantly worth a look if your in that situation of using twitter but don't want to be noticed.

I'd hope most people would put their job before random blogging
"I just had a muffin"
"Oh me too, how interesting!".
I don't see the appeal, it seems fair enough though if its someone blogging about an event eg T in the park, e3 etc.

I'd probably rather just scratch my eyes out with a rusty knife than tweet...anywhere at anytime... :D

I too just don't get Twitter. I can 'get' Facebook status updates, they can be a laugh at times, and it's a nice insight into peoples day and what's occuring.

But Twitter; dunno, I definately don't see the point in have a 'social networking' site AND Twitter together, and I don't see the point or would be a tad miffed if my phone or 'twitterapp' was constantly updating throughout the day and night. I'd get nothing done!

I must confess to being one of those technological luddites who doesn't understand the purpose of Twitter (nor the sudden fascination with it, I'd been aware of it for months before it became high profile enough to be mentioned on seemingly every news medium), if you just like the ability to write short updates then why not use a dairy? A good old fashioned paper based diary will do the same job unless you really think that other people are going to be so fascinated that you've just had a cup of tea and are thinking about your next music choice that they need the ability to access it anywhere.

Someone recently posted on my Facebook wall: “Paul, I don’t understand, and fear I may be too old for all this already… but… what exactly is the point of twitter?”
I can come up with at least nine answers. I’m sure you can come up with more:
  1. It’s a great way to publish to mobile devices;
  2. it’s a social networking tool to make contacts and carry on conversations;
  3. it’s a way of discovering new information (through tips and leads);
  4. it’s a great way to follow what’s happening through your mobile (set Twitter up to send you mobile updates)
  5. It’s a way of organising people
  6. It’s a great way of reporting from a live event or other occasions when you only have your phone
  7. You can aggregate a number of twitter feeds to one collective feed of what a group of people are doing
  8. You can push an RSS feed into twitter, creating a mobile/social network update
  9. For bloggers, it’s a good place to put thoughts and ideas that are so brief you wouldn’t normally blog them

6 I agree with, that plane that came down in the Hudson a while ago, wasn't that 'tweeted' live from the event?

9 Fair point.

Rest, don't justify the hassle.

I don't even get the point of Twitter, do you just stalk people and what they are doing?

It's quite interesting.

I'm following Robert Llewellyn who updates quite reguarly and Graham Linehan, creator of Black Books, Father Ted and The I.T. Crowd. He tends to update reguarly with cool little things found on the interweb like student films, obscure comedies etc and even L4D invites. :)

Just missed out on a game with him and Peter Serafinowicz once. :(

I also have no idea what twitter is all about.... Then again im not into the whole blog thing. I only have a facebook account because its an easy way to sort nights out between friends.

I'm guessing thats what twitter is kinda used for also ?

Then again there is also myspace, bangoo (or watever it is called) and loads of other socalising sites. I dont see the need to have so many. Then again i guess there always has to be competition.

The best way to think of it is like those who take a photo every day of something relevant to their day.

With twitter, it's just the same. Or at least, that's how I'm trying to use it.

Sure, it might not be interesting in most cases, but what normal person has a life that truly is?
