So, what doesn't work on your car?

98 Omega Elite here. To the surprise of all the vauxhall haters on here it's doing remarkably well for a 13 year old vauxhall :). Of the many toys, all work fine except...

1. Drivers seat heating (everyone else in the car gets roasted cow apart from me :() - I've gone as far as removing the seat and starting to dismantle it only to find instead of a convenient heat pad to replace, with the leather interior the elements are individually stitched into the upholstery. That's way beyond the limits of my haberdashery skills so i gave up :(

2. Climate needs a leak fixed and regas. On one of the few hot days of british summer I often decide I'll get it sorted, but by the time i get round to it summer is over and I dont bother.

3. Well you could argue the headlamp washers dont work, but that's only cos some **** pulled off the nozzles and I can't really be bothered to replace them. But they work fine :)

Still love these cars, one of the best made cars Vauxhall have ever made.

And the V6's were a joy to drive.

2003 BMW 318Ci Sport

Sometimes my mind isn't working in the mornings, that's about it :p

Everything else is working fine though, even the ice cold AC which hasn't needed a re-gass in years!

The cupholder on my Ibiza doesn't work; it refuses to open when you push it. Once it's about half way out it's fine, and it'll go back in easily enough.

Also seems that the rear window wiper jet doesn't work any more, that was definitely working a few weeks ago and would explain the random liquid on the road I noticed the other day.

Nothing big, but they're both a nuisance - the cupholder especially. It's not enough trouble to take apart the dash and fix it (according to the Seat forums, it's quite an easy job) because it goes out of my mind quickly, but when I need it it can be a pain not having it!

2003 MG ZR

Rear wind screen washer does not work

A really annoying rattle from the plastic around the sunroof which would easily be fixed if I got off my lazy arse and did it.

Seats don't move forward and back so easily but that's because I have loads of coins jammed in them. Don't you just hate it when you sit down and all your change just falls out your pocket. Again easily fixed too with some spanners and wd-40

Other than that it has been solid motor. Somehow nothing else has broken which is surprising given the luck I have.

Renault;

Rear door still doesn't open. I've no clue how I'm going to fix it, pretty much tried everything to get the locking mechanism out. It'll have to be taken off the hinges at a garage which will cost a bomb presumably.

Washer bottle still doesn't pump water. Haven't had a chance to fix it.

There's a rattle/slight clunk from the wheel/suspension when I go over a bump. Not sure what the noise is coming from.

Other than that. Fine.

Fan setting 1 and 2, the left-middle vent doesn't move and the horn is intermittent. Oh, the alarm had to be removed because it kept going off. And one of the injectors is very noisey.

Apart from those, everything else works pretty much fine. Not bad for an 'R' reg rover 25.

Fan 1 and 2 is an easy 10 minute fix, I had to do that on my MG TF! Common fault, check out the mg rover forums.... Think the horn is too, wiring or something?

2001 Focus.

Will be easier to list what DOES work... only joking.

Thanks to Clarkey and the internets my car is in pretty good working order now :D

The most annoying thing that doesn't work is the air directions selector - we've put the cable back on the pulleys numerous times but it keeps slipping off, so I'm stuck with the air split between the dash outlets (facing the seats) and the footwell blowers. I can change this if necessary but it requires pulling over and getting up close and personal with the console.

Also the speed sensor is bust which means the speedo has a tendency to drop to 0 for short periods of time, say up to 1 minute, although usually only 2 - 3 seconds, as I'm going through a gatzo. I've memorised most useful speeds in 4th/5th on the rev counter for safety.

Other than that, everything works as far as I know. Even the air con despite dumping a load of gas the other day - can't have been all of it though!

My dad has a 99 Omega 2.2 estate and he loves it. He'd like to try the v6 though hehe.

My VSS went on my focus too. Its a fairly simple fix, but it can be a right pain to do if the retaining pin doesn't want to come out.

05 subaru forester.
Clogged pollen filter, dodgy rear cup holder and a hole in the exhaust which shall be sorted soon. Considering the stupidly high miles, lack of servicing and me crashing it into a hedge I'm surprised that's all that's wrong

The built-in cell-phone is analog so doesn't work :p

Other than that the rear passenger window regulator has gone and the passenger lumbar support is temperamental but that's it (touch wood), the former is a straight-forward and cheap enough fix just cba as I rarely have 1 passenger let alone more than one, it'll get fixed eventually though.

The bootlock, I have fitted a new, complete mechanism and the same problem exists so it must be a fault with the linkages to the key cylinder or the central locking solenoid :(
The aircon pump, had a look and it might be servicible :)

Audio - The CD Stacker, Radio and tape deck appear to be working, I can hear the sub 'power up' when it turn the system on and off, but I get nothing but silence from the speakers. I've already replaced on of the 3 amps and the DSP computer but with no luck and I can't find a wiring diagram either :(

Electric column adjust does not work and is stuck in fully up position. Haven't looked into it properly but it sounds like I may need an entire replacement column :-\

And its got the world's worse KMH to MPH converter, the speedo read (digital) constantly flickers. Traveling at 25MPH it'll bounce constantly to say 17MPH, then back to 25MPH, then to 17MPH, then to 25MPH and so on. I'm going to rip the converter out and revert back to KMH when I get a chance.

And of course the sat nav/TV doesn't work in this country and needs to be converted. Only something I'd bother to do if I kept it though.

Xsara - Aircon just packed up so will be just binning it and fitting 306 rallye aux belt setup.

MR2 - Everything works perfectly

Golf - Everythings broke, windows, locking, abs etc

Passenger side left washer jet is blocked on one car and you need to touch the ashtray twice before it opens fully on another.

2006 vectra elite taxi -200k miles and everything works as it should :)

2003 LCR the cd changer stopped working (headunit has since been replaced with a nice alpine mp3 number) and the cat doesnt work as its sitting in the shed :)
