So, what doesn't work on your car?

On my CL65

Phone - not working.. some bizarre connection I haven't tried to change yet
TV - only sound works on some channels
FM Radio - only goes up to 90 or so, not 108
NAV/DVD - not reading any discs..

all of the above I can blame on the Japanese for having such unique and incompatible requirements compared with everyone else :) But none of which hinders my driving pleasure.

I also have a powered door closing problem on the drivers side with the vacuum system. But for 600 gbp to fix it i'll just close the door the old fashioned way, thank you very much.

2003 Golf (55k) - The rear hatch light switch broke the other day. Must get around to fixing it.

1994 Corrado (139k) - One of the LEDs on the mirror movement switch doesn't light up. Am just about to replace it.

Clio 182 (only had the car a week):

Hazard light switch. Changed the indicator bulbs on Saturday to Philips Silver Vision ones and used the Hazard switch for the first time to test them after doing each one. Switch worked the first time but won't work since. Reading cliosport.net it's a dead common problem, and I've got a new switch on order :).

2000 Vectra

Dodgy Idle, presumably a valve of some sort that I cant be bothered to sort out.
Petrol gauge sometimes decides to lie, or just not work at all.

2004 ford fiesta, central locking is bodged, needs a new fob but was quoted £140 by ford to replace and program :/

other than that nothing :)

I've got a warning light on the dash of my Z4 warning me that I have a faulty bulb somewhere. I am yet to find it...!

1981 Triumph Spitfire: Heater switch doesnt work properly, internal door handle has come off the rod (too heavy handed), MoT failure if not sorted by April, engine is out of tune - so I need to check for air leaks and have some carbs I have rebuilt and a gasket to put on.

Really wants a service, valve gaps checked etc. so I'll sort that out at some point. Oh, and the synchro in gear 2 is weak, so I have to double de-clutch to match the revs, otherwise it crunches. I plan to sort that out this winter.

Edit: Oh yeah, the fuel gauge under-reads, so when I have filled up, it only indicates 1/2 full and when I'm 1/2 full, it indicates 'empty'. The temp gauge also under-reads as a result as well. I'll be putting on a new voltage stabiliser next weekend.

1998 Vauxhall Corsa LS Diesel: Passenger Seat wont move, as the lever broke off and the fan belt wants replacing as it squeels every so often. I'll do a major service (apart from glowplugs) fairly soon.

Not much luck here! Still, they keep my mind off all the real life stuff when it brings me down!

Kind regards,

David

1995 Vauxhall Tigra:

Washer jet motor dead - easy fix.
Sunroof tries to open but only moves a couple mm - not bothered at all.

2005 Volvo S80 D5

Rear parking sensors don't work in the rain (loom rubs and breaks through boot) waiting for someone to rear end me.
Front headlight wiper sticks up sometimes

2006 Zafira 1.9d club

Front bumper falling off / trim missing
A/C packed up
Glove box now held closed with a drywall screw
Various bits of trim in a box in the garage
Rear heat vent fell off

1991 Mk4 XR3i Cabriolet

Aerial snapped off

MG ZR 2005

Boot doesn't open, one of the control arms has popped off. Need to find out how to take the plastic covering off to get to it while the boot is still shut some how... Would love to know who came up with the idea of only being able to open the boot with the fob (no internal release, no outside lock).

Other than that, it's only had the window regulator replaced once, and then screwed back together 6 months down the line.

The hideous amount of rattles don't count, it's british. That's my excuse anyways :p

EDIT: Oh, Air Con needs a re-gas, it works, just not very cold.

Renault.......

Climate Control only works until you turn it right up, then refuses to work until a point in time it chooses. (I keep it on three now!)

Something feels like its falling off the bottom, steering is only tight one way the other feels like stiring a bowl of soup.

Air Conditioning tempermental when it does actually kick in.

Engine appears to not work - car is diabolically slow when it feels like it, maybe turbo is on its way out.

Interior trim falling off all over the place

Front Fog lights no longer work.

Since unscrewing aerial for a drive through car wash the radio barely works.

It uses oil.

She's a reliable beast! :)

2005 Clio Sport - Suprisingly everything works!

Expect the radio, the lead for the AUX in is dodgy and it doesn't seem to display the radio channels? But I put that down to being a POS Sony HU. First thing to go in the car, I hate it.

Sony really let themselves down when it comes to ICE.

I expect a few things to break when I do a few more of the retrofits I have planned, pretty much par for the course when you are fitting things that weren't originally specced and you are making your own wiring looms though I guess.

2006 Focus. I replaced the radio and it doesn't show the time when the radio is off. You can push a button on there and it pops up the time for a few seconds, but my wife wants it on there all the time. I've bought a little clock about 1" across, and I've got a suitable drill bit, but I've not yet got around to fitting it in the radio fascia.

Civic 'Vision' 1.4 (2002 model).. only thing I can think of that don't work is the A/C, Had it 'Re-Gassed' last year and it worked again for about 2 weeks... so when I get the car Serviced in 2 weeks time I'll ask whats wrong with it!..

Otherwise, for a (nearly) 10 year old car its in remarkable condition.. and (according to the Android App 'Fuellog') its still returning about 45mpg!! :D

(watch everything fail on it now tonight on the way home!!)
