Just looking for some options to look into, not sure what exact specification can meet what I'm looking for anyway- here's a list :p

Requirements
-Smooth 1080p video with GPU acceleration
-Smooth 720p capabilities on youtube
-COD4 low/medium settings fine
-CSS low/medium settings fine
-Reasonable screen size anything bigger than 13-14"+
-Price under 750?

Not concerned about battery life or mobility. Although if there is a best of both worlds, then why not?

Well all your requirements seem geared towards performance, however, your choice is geared more towards mobility and battery life (as far as notebooks go anyway) so could you clear up which one is more important to you? If you need performance then you have plenty of alternatives with i5/ATI5650 combinations which will be powerful but not as mobile and efficient in terms of battery life as the laptop you selected.

Sorry I didn't realize I wasn't being clear. Not concerned about battery or mobility.

Any suggestion to particular models that could meet those requirements for less than 700?

Ah well in that case there's a wealth of alternatives. You could bag yourself a well specced Sony E series with i5, 500GB, 4GB RAM, 1080p screen and ATI5650 for around £720, which will laugh at your requirements. If you want to go even bigger you could get something like Toshiba Satellite L670-17K (priced at £750) with 17inch screen but that has a 900p resolution. With vouchers and discounts you could also bag a Dell Studio 17 for around £750 and there's a lot of Acers to consider (but I feel hard pressed to recommend them to people with my personal experience of their support). Sony are offering very good value for money lately though, but you could also have a look at Dell Outlet. Many people including myself have had good experiences there and grabbed excellent bargains. For example I got a Studio 15 which would tick all your requirements for £524.

Are you looking for a 1080p screen?

More the ability to play 1080p video, although I'm not really aware of the differences between different types of screens.

Thanks that's been very useful, do you know of notebooks in the £500-600 range? The dell outlet, is the IRE the one you used?

Well there's no point playing 1080p videos unless you have a screen with that resolution as they would have to be downscaled for the screen anyway. For lower budget, could also check out Samsung R580 (although looks a little Marmite on that one).

Did you pick the Studio 15 up from the Dell outlet? Does it have the i5 chip or the P8700?

I just picked up a Dell Studio 1749 from the dell outlet for £552 inc. delivery. It's not here yet but when it arrives, I'll post a review.
