I've been waiting since the 31st for mine, so technically (If I exclude the bank holidays etc).

I would have been waiting 6 working days and 11 actual days.

A little long (for me).

What about you guys.

  1. How long do you think an average wait is?
  2. How long have you waited or are waiting?

It does seem like a bit of a down fall on Apples side, I thought they be able to refund it faster, but maybe that way they can try and get their product to you so they don't lose you or your money.

Just spoke to them via Email. It gets worse.

Had i paid by Credit card, then by law they must pay the money back within 24 hours.

However, because its via debit card, then its likely to take 18-26 days.

Are apple taking the <swear> ?

Screw it tbh. If this is how they treat their customers then im sticking to windows. Premium product my <swear>

the Debit card vs Credit card is not just Apple, i have bought products from other companys and its taken over a month to get my refund.

My problem is a unique one, i should have probably explained. Considering how long it was taking, apple said weeks ago i would be able to get a refund immediately and pick one up in store, or upgrade my order to a 'non custom' build Imac over the phone, they said they because of the delay my cash hadn't been taken.
Untill i check my bank account, and find that infact they have taken the cash.
So why lie to me? now, after them telling me "Its okay, just cancel and go pick one up in store, its quicker!" they told me to do this, but i cant because they still have my funds.

Calm down. It's not the end of the world.

The average delivery time for a BTO / customised machine is 14 days. Not bad when it gets made and shipped from Shenzen, China.

Try ordering a Mac Pro, then realising you didn't add a second superdrive and then finding out they can't just add one to the order.. then having to wait 10 days for a refund.. then reordering.. then waiting 2 weeks :p

Also, they've abolished the restocking fee for machines bought.. which is unheard of in the PC industry.

I wouldn't be complaining if it was my fault, but considering some CS monkey lied to me is bad enough. But then having already been waiting for delivery for almost 2 months, its starting to get frustrating.

2 months? Why has it been 2 months?

Your mistake was listening to the CS rep. They only know so much.

Okay, bad english. would have been 2 months by time of delivery.
Ordered I5 27" Imac 2nd week of December, was given a date of just after Xmas for delivery due to stock issues + weather. Fine.

2 days before delivery, it got put back to 4th of Jan, due to stock issues.

Then on the DAY of delivery, i got an email saying its put back to the 12th of Jan because of stock.

And now i get another saying its due in the 2nd week of Feb..

It was after this that apple offered, actually offered, to let me cancel and immediately re-order the more expensive Imac if i wanted, which could be sent out right away.
Except after doing this, they wont release my funds.
Seems the Customer rep and myself have different definitions of 'immediately'

Ahh, this is due to the constraints in the i7 chip.

Perhaps the CS rep misheard you, or was talking about the credit card refund period, which is immediately. I don't know, I am guessing.

In my experience Apple are good if you complain about this sort of thing. Usually throwing in free software or accessories.
