So what's your policy about giving money to homeless people?

Lots of people saying they ignore... But don't you feel even the slightest bit of guilt for not helping a fellow human (within your community) in distress?

Not saying you should, but it's a perfectly natural reaction ...

they are only going to spend any money on some fags and class A drugs.

I was asked by someone a few nights ago outside a spar shop. It was bloody freezing and quite late (10-ish).

Sure he would only have spent it on fags and/or cheap cider, but that didn't stop me feeling a little guilty when I refused and walked away. Considing how bloody cold it was and that he was probably going to spend the night outside.

Once, a homeless man asked me for some change (shocking I know). I said I didn't have any and instead gave him 2 of my sausage rolls from a multipack I had bought. He then looked at me and said "Sorry I'm a vegetarian, could you give me some money instead?". I walked away amazed.

How can a homeless person be that picky?

Are homeless people not allowed ethics then?

There are plenty of people in the world who would die before they went against their beliefs. Do you think that because they can't afford a meal they should throw away their belief system?

Not saying either way is correct. Just throwing some thoughts out there.
