VAT was raised to 20% in January, I've googled as much as I can and cannot find out when it's being lowered back to 17.5%. Surely it should be Jan 2012? Am I making any sense? Just a thought

Because when it was dropped from 17.5 to 15%, it only lasted 1 year

Thats because it was announced as a temporary measure to stimulate the economy during a period of recession.

The increase in VAT to 20% is not a temporary measure - 20% is now the permanent rate of VAT. It isn't going back down.

And MANY YEARS ago it was raised to 17.5% as a "temporary measure". Once government has it's claws in a tax, it doesn't let it go easily.

Not really characteristic of a Tory government, so I doubt they'll be piling much more on.

I have a special present for you;

I'm not talking about just VAT. Besides, Brown's cut was only intended as a temporary measure, so that seems a bit disingenuous.

Tax and more tax one thing is certain our goverment are working out new ways of taxing us more.

I think hes right,They will just keep on putting things up...Remember the riots not so long back we had across the country?

That was a just a taste of things to come i reckon.

Im quite happy to pay stupid high Tax which the government can use to go to war with Countries I don't want anything to do with. We are being taken for a ride my friends..
