So, who got what?

Don't flame me but my wife got me a tamron 18mm to 200mm lens

For when I go hiking.

Why would you be flamed dude?

If it fits your requirements and budget then go ahead and enjoy. They are very useful lenses to have and its possible to get good results from them.

I got some photography books/mags, but my bro came into a bunch of old gear for free recently and hasn't given me his present yet, so fingers crossed!

Yay Royal Fail finally came up trumps.!

I received an IR remote and some spare lens caps for my Sony for xmas along with some money so I bought myself a couple of books and a really handy little tripod as well.

Manfrotto pocket support

The support is ace, it folds down really small so you'll always have it with you and supports a fair amount of weight. The gorilla pod I tried just slowly flopped over with a nex 5n + prime lens :o

Nikon 35mm f1.8 DX
Crumpler cupcake 550

And with some of the money I recieved I managed to pick up a Nikon 55-200 VR DX f4-5.6 second hand from LCE :)

Sigma 85mm f1.4
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6

Was supposed to be saving for a 35L but these looked like an interesting combo to try this new year :)

Nice, I'm seriously tempted with the Sigma 85mm f1.4.

I didn't get anything photo related for Christmas. I did hire a 35L for the period though. Unfortunately being ill I haven't used it that much :(

Ditto, every review I read raves about it. DoF of the 1.2 (almost), focusing speed of the 1.8 and a fraction of the cost of the 1.2...seems stupid not to.

That's the lens I'm looking to get next, I'm not a fan of Sigma but if this does actually deliver the goods then it's amazing value for money.
Sigma are also apparently going to be releasing a few new primes this year, so hopefully this 85 is the start of a new trend from Sigma.

Panasonic 20mm f1.7
Praktica 28mm f2.8 with hood
Praktica 50mm f1.8
2x Praktica B to M4/3 adapters
Redsnapper Tripod with ball head
Remote control for the lumix G

Her indoors bought me a Lumix fs16 as she had some vouchers left over

The 50mm praktica has since been thrown away as the inside was full of oil, bloody ebay seller saying it was mint

120 cm Octagonal Softbox for my Elinchroms and a Kindle with some Photography books already downloaded onto it.

Would totally agree with that! Had a go with one in a local store back to back with a 1.2 and there isn't a massive amount between the two, apart from price and slightly better build quality!

The canon isn't twice or 3x the lens the sigma is though.

I got a book by Tom Mackie called "Photos with impact" which is packed with landscape, architecture and wildlife photos! Good read and some great photos.

Some reports actually consider the Sigma to have the edge over the 1.2.

The siggy 85mm 1.4 will be my next lens as I can't afford the canon L and had the 1.8 which I wasn't fond of the bokeh or the fringing it had.

Is the 85mm 1.4 rated better than the 50mm ? , I ask because my 50 is quite soft up until F2.0 which kind of defeats the object.
