The sigma 50mm is meant to have better sharpness than the canon wide open. My canon 50mm is quite sharp wide open.

Got money and im hoping to buy a camera but the money needs to be split for a new graphics card and I already have a new monitor on the way so that leaves me with about £100 / £150 from my savings for a camera

I got a 550D and my dad gave me his 50mm lens. The difference between the 1000d and 550d is amazing.

It's reportedly sharper than the 851.2L at an equivalent aperture.

All for my good old Canon 350D
An old manual focus Jupiter 35A 135mm plus adaptor - had some very sharp pictures out of this even though manual focus on a 350D can be a challenge
The IS 18-55 kit lens to replace my old kit lens (very surprised at how good this lens is at £55 second hand its a steal)
A nifty fifty - canon 1.8 50mm - canons cheapest and again gives very nice results for the money. Gives the £200 plus 50mm 1.4 a run for its money when conditions favour.
With some Christmas money plus some of my own a Canon 85mm 1.8. From reviews and from my experience with the 50mm above I'm looking forward to this one.
