So........who thinks they know Excel?

I've been asked this by a friend: "I need to get the cell to look up a particular project then look at the most "upto date" date and return that info"

This is what she has come up with so far :

=(VLOOKUP($A2,Task!$A:$H,4,FALSE))*AND(MAXA(Task!D: D,Task!D: D))

Anybody able to help us out at all cause now we are both stumped
