Well i thought id ask as japan get it this xmas and us next year around spring. I personally wont because i wont understand a dam thing but i know about 4 people at work who will be importing it i asked them will you know what its saying they said no?

So i dont even get why they are? If any one here is why are you any perticular reason or is it just to have the game?

If there's no online features i'll consider it. My one gripe with Demon's Souls is that the Asian players are already miles ahead of me and most of the other people that have imported it and we therefore will be at a disadvantage when it comes to endgame pvp. If its just single-player and in full English, why not?

I believe demon souls was a rare case of having full english, i would bet FF13 will not.

Maybe they just want to get in straight away without waiting for ages for the official English release. Besides, apart from figuring out some heavy dialogue or intricate options, it probably won't be that hard to figure out certain game mechanics, especially if they are die hard Final Fantasy fans (Or Anime, Japanophile) who have imported the previous games of Japanese versions before. Even then, the PS3 version will contain both English and Japanese language tracks. Whether or not the Japanese PS3 version is only just the Audio (Cutscenes etc) and not the Text, it could still make some things easier.

As for myself, I am a patient person, so I will wait until it is officially released over here. It took me 2 years after Final Fantasy XII's UK release just for me to finally get it, and I still enjoy the game to this day.

Is it Japan only or the rest of Asia too? If it's going out in Hong Kong then it'll have an English soundtrack, too.

Yep!

I'll be buying it twice, one to keep sealed. Or if it has a limited edition I will buy it three times! Final Fantasy Collecting is a hobby of mine you see, mostly FFVII and FFXIII :p

For the average gamer I honestly wouldn't reccomend it, it will be totally in japanese and its a dialogue and text heavy game.

All valid points, If their is jpn ce with english subs id import that but i highly doubt square enix are going to put english subs in =(

Slightly OT but i keep thinking about collecting gaming merchandise related to either FF, Resi or MGS.

Strife, is there a lot of rare Final Fantasy things to collect? I notice you have the FF PS3 and that looks awesome! :D What other items are you searching for to help complete your collection?

Hopefully not derailing the topic too much ^^

FF has an insane amount of collectibles, ranging from fairly common figures to rare individually numbered statues.

Here is an example of the later, there were 3000 of these released at around the time the game was made. Mine is number 599 :) This cost a lot :o

Then there are tons of general fun items. They even sold Final Fantasy coca cola for a short while in Japan, got a bottle of it myself.

Final Fantasy seems like one of the better game related collections to me because there are some really obscure items and hunting for them can be pretty fun.

I am...quite worryingly looking forward to this game, mostly because XII sucked a monolithic fat one and by the trailes etc XIII looks like it has fixed a lot of what I hated about it. That being said, no, I won't be importing it, if you can't understand the text/diologue, whats the point in even playing? would be like palying poker in the dark, alone and with blank cards.

I am kinda dissapointed in that they seem to have done away with the "love story" aspect of Final Fantasy though....really annoys me because they were bloody good at it.

I would if I could understand Japanese.

Not because I want it as soon as possible, but because the English version will not have the option of Japanese voices... Some of the English voice acting is already getting on my nerves and I've only seen a few videos of it in English :p

If the Jap version had an option to make everything English except the voices I would be all over it, but unfortunately it won't.

I am wondering about that too, seeing as "Love" is one of the most major and traditional themes set for a Final Fantasy game (Along with the likes of Crystals, Chocobos, War, Evil Empire/Dictator/Villian or whatever!). Maybe they will somehow incorporate it for some of the characters, like some past history or something. It may not be as heavy and involving like previous games, but I guess it could at least be something. But yeah, it really is a shame as they have gone for the more "Action" approach. At least there is FFXIII Versus judging by some of the characters in that.

The PS3 versions is said to have both Japanese and English voices simply because of the Blu-Ray format. It's only the Xbox 360 version that will not have both for obvious reasons.

Wrong :(

the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be identical in content

What won't be on the disc(s) for either version will be the native Japanese language track, unless you're buying the Japanese version. Anyone hoping for a dual-language voice over option will be sorely disappointed.

However

Toriyama also indicated that the team is still working on compressing the game's data—and that the game isn't yet complete—so plans may change.

I wouldn't get my hopes up though :(

Read above.

Or watch these:

The jist of it is, they are aiming for 3 discs on Xbox 360 and are working hard to compress it all as much as possible to fit on 3 discs without losing quality. That to me says they don't have room for an additional sound track.

And in the video he clearly says both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be identical, so if the 360 isn't getting Japanese voices neither is PS3. The reason they don't just use 4 discs? Is because Microsoft will take a bigger cut of their profits through royalties (basically they charge more for every disc the game uses).

One solution is to just release it as a free download (it happend with Blue Dragon IIRC), but thats more then likely never going to happen if I know Square.
