So why would I enjoy Fallout 3/New Vegas?

The first 2 were far better than the newer ones. I was a hardcore fallout fan but no 3 just didnt float my boat. I tried fonline 2238 and its ok but just cant be bothered with it anymore. Although when the proper mmorpg comes out i might get back into it.

Fallout 3 is weird, I played through, but unfortunately I went WAY to fast on the main story line, though I did other things, I missed a heck of a lot. The second time I'm playing through with all the DLC, as per usual the DLC while interesting breaks the game and has no natural fluidity with the game.

IE I went and did them and random points and at each point it gave me something thats made the rest of the game so easy its interesting but no where near a challange anymore.

But this time around the story, the interactions between various groups is grabbing me much more effectively. The main story is ok, makes sense but is fairly short. Just searching can take dozens, hundreds of hours.

I think the game failed in that the main story was too short and really didn't encourage MASSIVE travelling and searching, it really didn't force you even quite simply, to every corner of the map, which would have meant seeing a good deal of the content on the way even if you don't do anything, just knowing where stuff is makes a huge difference.

Get the GOTY edition, its cheap, its well worth £15, though I think I've seen it mentioned for £11 somewhere.

Go in thinking, main story line, absolutely don't rush, take a look around and you'll have a massive game to play, some fun, I'd recommend leaving off the DLC's till you've done a significant portion of the game or the weapons/armour are just tooooooo good.
