So will 680i be able to support 45nm?

680i is now claimed to support 45nm dual-core only.
yes thats correct dual support only, even for the new 780i boards that are coming out shortly, no quad penryn support, inmho nvidia should release the licence for sli on intel chipsets, as a company theyre well ahead of amd/ati and it could only benefit nvidia, more sales of graphics cards for people who want sli, for to long nvidia have been using bios updates to upgrade their boards and its always been a quick fix bodge job

the 680i chipset supposedly supports both dual & quad-core Penryn CPUs - just that the existing reference (at least) mobos don't ...

I've seen at least 1 person say that Yorkfield works on the Asus Striker.

Having an Abit IN9-32x 680i mobo would that mean i would need to upgrade in order to use 45nms? I adore my mobo and i'd hate to have to upgrade it.

Is the jump from 65 to 45nm worthwhile or only worthwhile for overclocking?

The new 780s are said to only be able to change them multplyer. Nvidia are having to try work out how to do it them selves. Image if they turned their back on intel and went with amd. that would be weither. Amd/ati + nvidia vs intel.
