So... Windows = PC, Apple = Mac

"A microcomputer with its own processor and hard drive. Although technically this refers to all such computers, including Macs, the term PC is nearly synonymous with only the IBM-compatible microcomputers."

Thats why.

Which then makes Microsoft's "I'm a PC" ad campaign pretty pointless then. :p
Or, what it is intended to be, a ploy to maintain the general consensus that "a PC" = Windows. :) The exact same reason Microsoft deliberately choose ambiguous and vague names for their software ("Word", "Outlook" etc.), so it's less likely other software will be 'mistaken' as alternatives.

this page? reading now. As usual, it's all pseudo-techno-babble made to confuse higher management who don't know what they are looking at but can see "save money" and "lower costs" so sign the dotted line.

edit: LOL! They are actually using research by Capgemini as a selling point. I'm almost in tears.
