well ive got a cheapo jem replica (look below) and im having a really nice time trying to lower the action among other things, getting it it tune isnt to hard, as i find once its in it will stay pretty much on the button for a few days, its just a pain to play as the strings are just to high off the fretboard to play properly low down the neck, wondering if any of you guys could help me out a bit, ive googled until my mind hurt and I only really found out about the tuning :(

pics to come

edit:sorry but it seems im the one starting all the boring guitar threads these days :o ;)

the two big ol allen screws either side should tilt the front down but doing so stresses the springs and can cause it to lose tune depending on how well the bridge is made/mounted. it's a load of hasslt i cant be arsed with so i stick to tunomatics :)

You should loosen the strings a bit before you adjust those posts though, else they (the posts) can bend.

Once you get into the swing of messing around with floating trems they actually aren't that bad - it's just the initial hassle of getting a stable setup to launch from. I assume you thoroughly stretched the strings after you put them on?

Why oh why did you buy one of those knock offs?

it only cost me 50 + postage mate - its a stop gap until i can afford something a bit more worth having (was thinking gsa60?) - i had a feeling you would be posting in here :) - its not a complete knock off btw, it doesnt pretend its an ibanez and neither do I :)

the writing says licened under floyd rose patents

yeah i regret going for the floating bridge - pain to set up, however its good when it is.

update goes something like ive got them low enough to do for now :) - help from a freind ;)
