So you can have your cake (points) and eat it (drive)!

Well I think that someone failing to provide details doesn't mean they are a danger on the road, which seems to be what most of the points totals are, so disqualifying someone would be unnecesary. We don't have the full story here and the discretionary decision by the magistrate could be valid.

Seems just to be a witch hunt because of the points total.

it's scary.

i mean, getting let off once because of "extreme hardship" ok.

but surely, after that you would be on best behaviour as the threat of "extreme hardship" outweighs the need to speed?!

really. it's mental. 109mph and not banned as he requires a car for driving!? crazy. i'm going to get a job driving just so i can blast around the streets at any speed i wish.

i always thought taxi drivers drove like they were immune to the law.

but to be pulled over in the first place, they would probably have been breaking the law in some degree.

all this shows is that if you want to keep your licence when a cop pull you for going little to fast don't give them your ID.

no ID = No ban.

Over here every one of those would be in jail, driving with a suspended license = jail, not providing information = jail.

Silly UK

This really does get my goat tbh.

EVERY driver knows there's a penalty system based on points. As a driver you are aware that by driving in a manner otherwise in accordance with the law/licence will get you points added to your licence.

It's not like you can tot up all 12 points on one single offence, granted if there are multiple offences when caught then it's possible but that's different.

The 12 points should be ABSOLUTE, no ifs, no buts. If you loose your income then so be it. It was a CHOICE YOU AS A DRIVER MADE not the courts to drive like a complete *******.

NO-ONE should be able to rack up 28-50 points. It should be abundantly clear well before that stage that they're abusing the system in claiming hardship and unwilling to comply with the laws.

It pays the government to keep these people on the road, think of how much all those points have cost in fines!

The government will also get 9.5% of their huge insurance premium.

I used to know a bloke who always ran complete sheds for cars. Never spent more than a few hundred quid on a car, and never maintained it properly.

Got stopped on his birthday, 4 bald tyres, 12 points. Subsequently banned :D
