At our old house we had soakaways which then meant we didn't have to pay 7 Trent for disposing of our waste surface water. (NOT WASTE SEWER WATER) Does that still apply - I have rang 7 Trent and the bloke kept jabbering on about highway water but unfortunately with my hearing aid's I couldn't decipher a word he said.
So does anyone here with soakaways pay for the disposal of it even though it just soaks away.

Yes. Complete the form on their website and send it off. Worked for me. I had a chap come out in Shrewsbury and check my drains with smoke. Saves a couple of quid a month.

It’s a bit naughty really charging a blanket charge for it whether you have it or not.

I am just waiting till holiday is over then ring the vunerable help line (80) -see if I can get some sense out of them - although they were spot on when I went to a water meter.

Surface, foul and any highways gullies that drain from (or via) your property into the public sewer are chargable. If you can show that one or more of these do not apply, then you should be able to get them removed from your bill.

If the phone is of no use, email the water company or use their online chat facility. I prefer the latter two anyway, as you then have everything in writing.
