Soap Opera Strikes on SkyQ!

I've noticed that on several SkyHD channels the Soap Opera effect strikes hard. Certain films look like you are in the audience whilst it was recorded in front of you, and others, using special effects (such as HellBoy - the one with the clockwork assassin) look absolutely horrible.

My TV is LGC8 55". The thing is, *most* films on Netflix 4K look amazing, like Guardians of the Galaxy 2, whereas some others look horrible (Always Be My Maybe - looked like you were watching it being filmed in the studio).

Any ideas what this might be?

Have you got intelligent frame creation turned off on your TV? That’s usually the first step to correcting this.

Motion interpolation is probably enabled on whatever HDMI your Sky is connected to.

Turn it off.

On the LG you need to turn it off for each picture profile. For instance if you watch something that is Dolby Vision for the first time you’ll need to turn it off even if you had disabled it for your normal picture profile.

Quick Settings > Settings > Picture Settings > Picture Options > TruMotion.
