I don't consider myself to be a geek, maybe a wee bit geeky in one or two specific areas of knowledge, but overall I think I'm a well rounded individual.

Unless ofcourse hanging out on these forums is the opposite of 'normal'?

being into tech and computers is not geeky, rather you can be into tech and games and gadgets without being socially retarded and say cheesy things and look like a typical geek.

The 'geek' stereotype grinds me. Dont get me wrong, there are some people who are that stereotype, but making en-mass generalisations about all who like a specific subject or activity and classifying them as geeks based on just that annoy me.

I think that any advice on how to be socially adept taken from Stanford University's website must be taken with more salt than we have in Britain; OK, that's not a great deal of salt, but it should at least be questioned!

Not even then to be honest, your fixing it not giving a tutorial.

I've even learned to look distant, bored and give one word answers as soon as the subject comes up. Most people do not have anything interesting to say about a computer, they are going to ask you something stupid or for help, that's what the purple shirts are for, not your friends.

couple of weeks afo i went into my local ****** to get some cable braid, i get to the counter and the assistant manager ( i looked at his badge ) took the box off me, had a good look at it then told me this was just too cool. ok a little ott, next he takes my card and goes to but it in the chip n pin machine exactly the same time as one of the other guys behind the till was going to, my man then says in a ROBOT voice " syncronized " and starts doing this robot move, the then asks me to put my pin number in " in robot voice " hmmm ok, would you like a bag " in robot voice " im getting embaressed now as there is more than me at the front desk. ok im finished, i walk off and i hear him sy next customeer please " in robot voice " omg omg
geek, nerd or something else ?
