I really hope that VR will give us a real cinema experience, but the ones I tried had the screen tracking to your head movement which was pathetic really. It was early days so I hope when things get moving this year it will be a lot better.

anyways, if it is actually good, do you think we will have a VR cinema app where other people can join the cinema and watch it with you? Not sure on copyright stuff but would be really great.

This is already done isn't it with stuff like Oculus Cinema or Virtual Desktop? Sitting in a virtual cinema environment with your video files playing on a large cinema screen in front of you, the whole world is tracked and moves, not just the screen.

That's the problem though isn't it. The screen shouldn't track. When you're sitting in the odeon and turn your head to the person sitting next to you, the screen doesn't move does it :p

If they are to do a social VR cinema, the screen and room needs to be static so you can look at who is sitting next to you. Not sure how the interactivity would work, I can just imagine people in the room getting annoyed at people whispering and munching popcorn......although I guess you'd be able to mute chat and just have the movie audio playing :p

That's what I meant - the screen is static and you can look around the "world".
