Socket 1050 upgrade ?

Hi i have a 4790K which is fine but is this the last socket 1150 cpu or are there any any new ones planned as i was wondering if i would need a new motherboard and ram as this could be quite expensive ?

Devil's Canyon was the last mainstream range for 1150, yes.

Strictly speaking, Broadwell-DT is the last family for 1150, but unless you need the iGPU it's a step down. See e.g. the i7-5775C.

Yep, broadwell E is the refresh for the X99 on 2011 v3 socket.

got the same cpu - depends on what you do with your pc, you are looking at around 140 mark for half decent overclocking

An i7 4790K is the top spec for LGA 1150. Future upgrades would require new DDR4 ram and motherboard.

If it's not holding your gpu from hitting 99-100% usage there's no point upgrading I'd keep the 4790k for years and years.
