Hi,

My m8 just upgraded to a 2600k but is forced to use the crapy stock cooler because his XIGMATEK Dark Night S1283W cooler does not have the mounts for socket 1155. I then found out that you can get a upgrade kit (Xigmatek Crossbow ACK-15361) which gives it the correct mounts, but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth.

Anyone got any idea where he can get one of these from?

I thought the same, maybe they did a newer version that came with the 1155/6 mountings too, but the version my m8 has only comes with socket 775 and 1366 intel mountings..

The Xigmatek Crossbow ACK-15361 is all that is needed but it's finding one. I contacted Xigmatek and got no reply, just seems such a waste of a cooler that would do the job fine for the sake of a mounting kit.

Due to the no competitor rule it would be difficult to link to a UK supplier but I can't see them for sale in the UK anyway.

OcUK sell Xigmatek products so you could try posting in the Customer Service section of the forum to see if they plan on stocking them or if they could get one as a one off.

I assume he hasn't got an ASRock board which fits S775 coolers like your P67 Fatal1ty?

I just fitted one of these on my new i5 rig and had a few issues fitting it, it's complicated and fiddly but a brilliant cooler (I fitted a second fan to mine too. Maybe mine was the 'updated' version, but here's what I did:.

It does fit, just in a very difficult way. There are 2 types of back plate available and 2 sets of instructions on the rather mamoth sheet.

Depending on which back plate you have will influence which fixing screws etc you will use.

I dived straight into the first skt 1155 instructions I saw and realised I didnt have that backplate and nearly raised an issue with ocUk.
After sitting down and reading properly I found that both back plates can be used for every socket. One side does intel, the other does AMD.
You should have 2 chrome bars with a threaded pin in the center and a slot at either end. These say intel on them iirc.

he had this fitted on a Q6600 & 775 motherboard for a couple of years and has since lost the box and all other bits, the fittings on it now will only fit 775 or 1366, but i'm sure it never had a fitting for the 1156/1155 boards anyways. I guess thats why they bought out the crossbow kit for it.

I think the cooler you have fitted is the new Night Hawk Edition version of this cooler, which has the two fans and will fit 1155 boards.
