hi guys - I want to upgrade my 2500k regrettably - it’s such a truly wonderful chip but it’s showing it’s age. I may frame it..... I don’t know lol.

Problem is, I can’t afford a whole new platform so a new chip I think might be best.
I’ve got 16gb ram and a GTX 970 at the mo. 1080p at 144mhz.

What’s the best option? 2700k or 3770k something like that?

2700k has, in general, slightly higher overclocking headroom than the 3770k (of course this is #siliconlottery dependent)
3770k is approx 3-5% faster than the 2700k at the same clock speed.
2700k is the last mainstream cpu to have a soldered heatspreader. everything from the 3770k and later uses 'toothpaste'
Haha! Ok so really either will improve things then?
