socket 1156 + ddr2?

Hi all,

I would like to upgrade my CPU to an i5 but wanted to save some money. So my question is: Is there is any socket 1156 motherboard that supports DDR2?

If the above answer is a no would it be better for my to upgrade to a Quad core Q9550 or similar? My current CPU is an E6750 running at 3.6ghz.

No, because the motherboards no longer house the memory controller. With i3, i5 and i7 the memory controller is in the CPU, and i-series CPUs only have DDR3 memory controllers.

ahhh ok cheers for that... hmmm waht do do? i've already spent £165 on a GTX460
