According to some socket 2011 will support quad channel memory

now what I'm wondering is how many memory slots will there be on the atx x68 boards?

Do u really think we will be going quad channel or retain Tri channel

Dual channel = 4 slots

Tri channel = 6 slots but can also run dual channel

Quad channel will it = 4 or 8 slots will it support Tri and dual

They'll release a quad channel for sure. Mind you it will be pretty pricey.

I'll be intrigued to see the performance delta as Sand Bridge is working rather well off dual channel at the mo.

As for number of memory sticks I suspect we will see both 4 and 8 slot varieties show up. There certainly won't be any 8 slot mini ATX boards!

Here is an MSI P45-8D back from the core 2 duo era that shows how much space 8 slots takes up.
